| 60th Anniversary Retrospective Exhibition Tuesday 18th September until Saturday 22nd September 2012 In November 1952 Agatha Christie's play 'The Mousetrap' opened at the New Ambassadors Theatre in London. It’s still showing today, holding the record for the longest running play of the modern era with more than 24,500 performances. Carshalton Camera Club was also founded in November 1952 and, like 'The Mousetrap', is still running sixty years later. To celebrate its Diamond Jubilee, Carshalton Camera Club is mounting a Retrospective Exhibition at the Europa Gallery in Sutton Library, St Nicholas Way, Sutton, SM1 1EA. The exhibition will be open to the public during normal library opening hours from Tuesday 18th September until Saturday 22nd September 2012. Members of the public are warmly invited to come along and see how photography has developed over the past sixty years. From film to digital, from chemicals to computers, from darkrooms to Photoshop, the Retrospective Exhibition will trace the evolution of photography through images taken over the last six decades. A special panel will feature the work of Roy King FRPS. Roy joined Carshalton Camera Club in 1962 and was president from 1986 until his death in 2011. He was highly respected locally, nationally and internationally.Carshalton Camera Club hopes that as many people as possible will come along to view this Exhibition. |
